  • Background

This coffee ails from Fazenda Pinhal and is owned by Pedro, João, and Milau Gabarra, sixth generation coffee farmers, who have directed the farm to focus heavily on sustainability and the farming of high grade speciality coffee.

They are hugely respected within the specialty coffee industry both for their excellent coffee quality and also their commitment to sustainability, having won the most sustainable farm in Brazil back in 2019, after moving 100% of its energy to renewable sourced with solar panels on the farm.

Around 35% of their 914 hectare farm is planted for coffee with the remainder being left either as untouched natural reserve or for any of the various reforestation initiatives being carried out by the family. These include a Eucalyptus forest, a 20ha native forest redevelopment and a rehabilitation and release sanctuary for native birds.

We love it when coffees stand out differently from how we expect them to. Coffees from Brazil, we all know what they taste like, which is largely why we're so honoured and happy to have this one on our lineup. Our first Paraiso varietal, she sings different. Upon the first sip, we taste the sweetness and vibrancy of stewed stonefruit. This leads to the delicate note of yellow florals, coupled with that iconic (it's still a Brazilian coffee after all) note of sweet hazelnut praline. This coffee is high sweetness, it tapers off to a clean finish of demerara. Truly a special one, I think a few of us have this one to enjoy at home now. GET IT, it's the perfect example of how beautiful coffee can be, whilst still being a daily driver.
